After Extensive Search, Community Development Corporation of Utah Announces Selection of New Executive Director

Salt Lake City (28 June 2005)--The Community Development Corporation of Utah (CDC) has named former state government official Darin Brush as its new Executive Director.

"The Board of Directors was looking for a proven leader with a passion for community development and a vision for the future of the Community Development Corporation," says Tom Godfrey, Board President. "We considered many solid candidates from around the nation, but Darin has what we were looking for. We are confident he will be a great asset to the CDC and to the community."

Darin Brush is an 11-year veteran of state government and the former Deputy Director of the Utah Department of Workforce Services, one of the state's largest agencies, responsible for an annual operating budget of $650 million and more than 2200 employees. In that role, Darin forged public and private partnerships to develop innovative solutions to meet Utah's economic and workforce development needs. He has extensive experience working with federal agencies, administering large grants, and building consensus around meaningful, complex issues.

"For more than a decade, I've helped people find jobs," states Brush. "Joining the Community Development Corporation seems a natural next step, where I can help working families realize the home ownership part of the American Dream. I am honored by the opportunity to build on a 15-year foundation of success in affordable housing that is the CDC."

The Community Development Corporation of Utah (www.slcdc.org) is a Utah non-profit corporation founded in 1991 with the mission to develop affordable housing in order to promote strong families and stable neighborhoods. To date, the CDC has aided more than 1600 families, in more than 125 communities, to become homeowners. The CDC is a full-service agency and its programs include new home construction, homebuyer education and counseling, down payment and mortgage assistance, and adapting homes for people with special needs.

Darin replaces Cheryl Cook, member of the Board of Directors, who stepped in as interim executive director after the tragic death of long-time CDC leader Bruce Quint. Darin begins his responsibilities immediately.
